Bond Film Delays – Causing Product Placement Havoc For Brands
Recent reports said that the latest James Bond movie’s pandemic-related delays are unusually causing problems for its marketing deals. It had left the advertisers to concern that the film may end up featuring outdated product placements.
No Time To Die is the 25th Bond film which is currently due to release in cinemas on October 8th 2021a year after it was originally set to release. According to a source, “Some of those things were the very latest models back when they started filming but by the time the movie comes out now it will look like Daniel Craig and all of the other cast members are carrying something that has been out for ages. That isn’t really the point of these deals.”
The film became popular and reportedly features Omega watches, Bollinger champagne, and Adidas footwear. Also, it seems that HMD Global’s Nokia phones are at risk of dating most quickly in the industry. As per HMD Global announcement, the film would include its Nokia 8.3 5G from last year. TechRadar reports that the film is also set to include the Nokia 7.2, which was initially released in 2019. The movie could face reshoots to hide its outdated products and some scenes may be “carefully edited.”
Recent source added that “The big tech firms want the stars to have all the new up-and-coming products to help promote them and sell them to fans.” It means there are some scenes that are going to be very carefully edited and considered to bring things up to date.
One of the film’s stars, Lashana Lynch, appears to use a Nokia 8.3 5G in an ad film, a previous version released in March 2020 seems to feature a Nokia 5.3 which was completed with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and headphone jack on the top.
The film ‘No Time to Die’ was originally due to release in April 2020 but got delayed to November last year. It was after the pandemic forced cinemas around the world to close. Due to pandemic and other related reasons, the film was subsequently delayed to April 2021 and then to October 2021. Currently, the movie is knocked to release around a year and a half after its original planned debut. According to a source, no more delays happen to the movie. TechRadar stated that ‘No Time to Die’ will also feature a classic Nokia 3310 that was originally released in 2000.
